LIFE- Leading Individuals, Fostering Empowerment 

Northside High School is fortunate to have dedicated School Counselors who support students through many challenges. However, there are times when a student may need additional support. In these cases, students can be referred to the LIFE program. 

About LIFE 

Northside High School is proud to offer the LIFE Counseling Program to provide students with extra support beyond what our school counselors offer. 

LIFE focuses on helping students reach their goals through: 

  • Empowerment 

  • Building and maintaining meaningful relationships 

  • Advocacy 

  • Psychoeducation & skill-building 

Our mission is to provide prevention and intervention services that support academic success, personal growth, and overall well-being. 

Services LIFE Offers 

LIFE Counselors work as part of a multidisciplinary team to meet each student’s unique needs. Services are tailored to the individual and may include: 

  • Individual counseling 

  • Group counseling 

  • Psychoeducation 

  • Substance abuse prevention & intervention 

  • Life skills training 

  • Crisis intervention 

  • Case management services 

Issues LIFE Supports 

LIFE services help students manage challenges such as: 

  • Anger management & aggression 

  • Stress & anxiety 

  • Family stressors- including grief and loss 

  • Depression 

  • Relationship issues & peer conflict 

  • Substance use/abuse (alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, vaping, etc.) 

  • Defiance 

  • Other personal or social concerns 

How to Access LIFE 

Referrals can be submitted online by using the Request for Assistance form using the QR code below or by contacting the LIFE Counselor directly through phone or email. Once a referral is received, parents are contacted to discuss the next steps. Participation in LIFE requires a referral and parent/guardian permission. 

Referrals may be made by: 

  • Self-referral 

  • Student referral for a peer 

  • A parent/guardian 

  • School staff
